Our client is a specialist pharmaceutical company, delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious diseases. They target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of children. These conditions are often progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. Our client will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind in Children

The Commercial organisation supports their global sales and marketing efforts around the world. Their sales force continues to solidify the company’s commercial presence in Europe and is growing in other regions, such as Asia-Pacific.

They are now looking to recruit a European Business Manager to join their management team based out of Dublin. The ideal person should come from a pharma/healthcare background and have strong marketing, commercial and sales experience, in Ireland but also in an ex country capacity.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

This position plays a key role within the commercial organization, focused on driving commercial activities for our clients’ pipeline programs across Europe.  This position participates in commercial planning and market preparation activities by providing objective, in-depth information on current and future markets, customers and competitors. The role identifies critical business issues and opportunities for growth, collaborates with commercial, supply chain / cross-functional teams, and drives strategies to set the direction for the product in the region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with regional teams and country managers to develop commercial strategies to address market opportunities, build business and go-to-market plans

  • Builds and manages the market performance and reporting process

  • Drives market development/ pre-launch activities for pipeline programs in Europe

  • Partnering with regional and global commercial team (Market Access, Product Marketing, Field Teams), Medical & Scientific Affairs, and others

  • Evaluates and provides internal guidance on the regional market landscapes, monitor changes and predict trends in market dynamics and competition

  • Inputs into revenue models for development stage programs and ad-hoc business development projects

  • As needed, support business development efforts by serving as regional commercial interface with Business Development team and providing regional evaluation of market opportunities

  • Support the localisation of materials and resources for the region as needed

  • Prepare regional brand and launch plans in collaboration with internal team

SCOPE

This is a senior manager role which will involve some travel to the UK and across the Europe region and other areas as deemed necessary.

EDUCATION

Minimum:

  • Strong English language skills (reading, spoken and written)

  • Minimum bachelors, preferably in a type of life sciences and/or business / marketing

    Preferred:

  • Higher qualification of MBA or masters preferred

  • Any additional language skills are an advantage

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years in life sciences industry

  • The successful candidate will have had P&L responsibility.

  • District or regional management experience including full responsibility for planning and resourcing the region.

  • Ideally, he or she will have worked outside their home market to have had first-hand experience of more than one healthcare system.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, strategic and analytical skills are required

  • Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external teams to achieve project objectives

  • Consulting, project management, marketing, and/or market research experiences preferred

  • Ability to rapidly learn and work across multiple disease areas

  • Experience working in Pharma or specialty markets
