Business Unit Director - Pharmaceuticals – Dublin based – July 2017 - Urgent

Our client, a major pharmaceutical company based in Dublin wish to appoint a Business Unit Director to join their team in Ireland. The position is a full time permanent role.

Job description

The Business Unit Director is responsible for driving a significant proportion of our clients business in Ireland. Leading a team of approx.16 people distributed among Sales and Marketing.

This role demands high attention and extraordinary strategic thinking and leadership skills.

The Business Unit Director will play a key role within the Regional and Global Brand Team as ambassador in making sure local needs and Global priorities are in line with local implementation.

This position reports to the local Managing Director and you will be part of the senior management executive team.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Leads and develops the sales and marketing team including but not limited to performance management, talent management and career development.
  • Leads activities across brands, including the definition, design, execution and measurement of all marketing strategies and tactics to deliver on the brands’ objectives
  • Responsible for P&L and budgetary compliance
  • Coordinates regularly with all the other business leads as well as the rest of the SMT members

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Success leading a medium BU or complex sales organisation with P&L responsibility (or sales/cost budget)
  • Successful track record in commercial management (sales & marketing)
  • Solid experience in pharmaceuticals, and/or other complex biologic products (in pharma or one of the leading biotech companies)
  • Track record of strong leadership and development of people and organization
  • Experience in launching significant pharmaceutical prescription brands
  • Attracted and developed high potentials
  • Scientific credibility; built from formal education or practical experience and with KOLs and other key stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong scientific and data-driven analytical thinking and launch excellence capability
  • Scientific mind-set
  • Demonstrated can do and enterprise mind-set; with the ability to drive change
  • Creation and execution of a strong strategic vision
  • Ability to lead/develop people and organisations to effective and high performing teams
  • Stimulates Cross-functional collaboration in teams
  • Ability to build networks and manage relationships with stakeholders (internal & external) and Key Opinion Leaders
