Medical Advisor Opportunity – Pain Control – Pharmaceuticals – Dublin based – January 2018 - Urgent

Our client, a global pharmaceutical company involved mainly in the pain management area wish to appoint a Medical Advisor to join their team. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a pharmacy or medical qualification and 1-2 years medical affairs pharma experience to step into the role of Medical Advisor at an earlier level than normal

Role Purpose

Provide medical leadership and operational management to their Irish affiliate incorporating the initiation, development and delivery of expert medical and scientific activity to optimise and achieve stakeholder objectives for assigned products and therapy areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and scientific expertise to all our clients activities and ensure effective cross-functional working, in particular, the development and implementation of the brand aligned Medical strategy including the delivery of relevant clinical insights, internal and external scientific product presentations and training, publication plan development and implementation, external advisory board meetings and symposia, management of grant requests, and the review and approval of promotional and scientific materials

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key external experts, HCPs, government authorities, funding bodies and other entities, and facilitate appropriate medical and scientific information exchange. This will include regular field visits

  • Support the conduct of company sponsored research and identify potential clinical trial/KOL leads

  • Be responsible for the provision of high quality and timely medical information in response to requests from the field, for all ethical products, in line with SOPs. Provide “out of hours” cover for all prescription products in Ireland as needed

  • Ensure they act in compliance with the IPHA Code and be the Final Code Signatory for Ireland. Review and approve promotional materials and act as a source of compliance counsel for other company colleagues

  • Be responsible for the line management and development of all members of the Medical team in Ireland (e.g. MSL) including recruitment, appraisal, performance management and associated responsibilities

  • Adhere to, develop, maintain and implement Medical Standard Operating Procedures for Ireland

Professional Experience and Education

  • A medical/pharmacy qualification with a minimum of two years medical affairs pharmaceutical experience.

  • Experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry and with the IPHA Code

  • Strong evidence of experience of Irish medical practice, including structure and patient pathways

Specific Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Knowledge of Irish health service

  • Knowledge of the IPHA Code

  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills and data sharing

  • Attention to detail and organisation

An excellent salary, circa 60-80k (depending on experience) plus strong benefits package including company car will be offered to the successful person.
